PTL! It's Fall.
Of all the seasons, I think I get the most excited about Autumn. There is a very distinct and undeniable feeling that surrounds it. I use to love it so much because the kids all went back to school (only a mom would truly understand how wonderful that feeling is!), but it's more than just that. I love the leaves and the colours all around. The crisp mornings are a refreshing change from the heat of those summer afternoons and those sweltering nights (especially now that I'm having those nasty hot flashes from my cancer meds).
I also love the Fall because 'Thanksgiving' is coming; a wonderful reminder of God's goodness and all that He has blessed us with.
It's during this season that the leaves change, the weather changes, the time changes, birds make their way south. Squirrels begin feverishly storing nuts. Salmon start their phenomenal swim back to their spawning grounds, and many of the larger animals begin preparing to curl up for a long winter's nap. With incredible consistency, all of nature instinctively prepares for the upcoming winter season. It is wonderful how our great God graciously moves his creation simultaneously from summer to autumn. It is He that mysteriously writes His agenda and nature must follow His course.
This year, let's think of Autumn as a season of reflection; a time to gain new perspective on all that is important. To shed those ways in us that are unproductive and to establish new ways that will really help to accomplish His goals for our lives. And most of all, lets be truly thankful for all His good gifts both seen and unseen and for all He has done for each one of us!
Happy Autumn Everyone!
