I love my country. I believe that Canada is the best place to live and I am so very proud to be a Canadian. I know that we have our fair share of problems and we all complain about the taxes, but I wouldn't trade it to live in any other country in the world. I have the wonderful opportunity of working with many new people to Canada, and I consider it a great privilege to share my home land with them. Some of them come here with absolutely nothing but the clothes on their backs and the hope for a better life, safe from persecution, war and poverty; a new chance for life. It's many of them who, after hearing their stories have made me even more conscious of the privileges we have here in Canada. However.... nothing gets my goat more than listening to immigrants to Canada who complain that they don't like it here, or even worse, having to listen to how much better their home country is than Canada. I'm not picking on any one nationality here but I have experienced this attitude mostly in some British, Italian, Greek and some other Europians that I know. I want to be very careful to say that this is only a few of them. Most share my love and admiration of this land, but for those who come here and find that home is so much better; that Canada just doesn't measure up. I say get back on the first boat or plane that's available and go home! You are just taking up space that can be used for someone who really appreciates being here! There will be a whole bunch of us applauding as you leave! That's about all I have to say about that.....for now.

Very well said Rhonda. You have expressed it so well and in a way that no-one could misinterpret and misconstrue as racist or bigoted.
ReplyDeleteWhat a talent! Have you considered politics? :D
I could not agree with you more.
One thing that pisses me off more than anything is listening to people whine and complain about being somewhere when they should just be happy to be there in the first place!
I've experienced that at places that I have worked as well.
Don't moan and complain to me about your job or where you live when I am grateful just to be there!
I've been out of work and seen the terrible conditions where some are forced to live. We have NOTHING to bitch about.
Thanks for waking me up for a minute Rhonda. :)

I will pardon your language here but just this one time!
ReplyDeleteLanguage? Really... Shall I delete the comment?
ReplyDeleteDelete? Never! You are the one that told me that you never use language and I believe I told you that you did. I'm right I win, that'll teach you never to argue with a woman.
