A Thought: You are a mirror for your mate

When your spouse looks into your face what does she/he see?  Acceptance?  Rejection?
Whether we realize it or not we are  mirrors for our mates. The amount of confidence she/he has as they deal with people in life, is in many ways influenced by whether you, as their spouse, accept or reject them.

Self image; self esteem, self concept, will largely affect how your mate feels about her/himself and the value and sense of worth they have internally.  This goes both ways and effects husbands and wives alike.
Self image plays a major role in everything we do and can hinder or enhance the ability we have to learn and make decisions, take risks, as well as resolve conflicts within ourselves and with others. Self image will either restrain or refuel a person.
A low self esteem causes one to view life through the eyes of fear.  The fear of rejection is one of the most powerful forces that motivates and controls us. It is key that as a couple you recognize that the fear of rejection is an enemy.  Fear will begin to dissolve in your spouse only when there is a steady flow of authentic unwavering love.
Love is the most powerful agent for change in the universe, because love casts out fear. God’s love, perfect love can overcome the fear of rejection. Perfect love accepts and embraces even through the weaknesses and fears that threaten to destroy and diminish.
So I ask you again when your spouse looks into your face what does she/he see?
1 John 4:18 says: Perfect love casts out fear.
