What if I could guarantee that God would come to a prayer meeting at your house tonight and you could have half an hour to ask him anything you want; say anything you want to him; do anything or go anywhere you want with him; the sky is the limit. What would you say? What would you want to do? How would you prepare? What would you want to ask him? Would you wait in eagerness and excitement? Or perhaps you would prefer to turn out all the lights and pretend not to be home at all?
Prayer is an open door to speak to God, a direct communication with the creator of the universe, mastermind of all that is. I think sometimes we forget that. Prayer becomes a passing thought with no expectation of actually meeting or hearing anything. No wonder sometimes our prayer times become somewhat rote and fall flat. If we don’t come believing, if we don’t come in faith that we will hear from him, then perhaps we have already rendered our prayers pointless, faithless and just worthless mutterings.
When you come to prayer come expecting to hear from him, come in confidence that you are in the presence of the almighty King. Come believing you will be communing with your Father God and that he has come to hear what your heart has to say. Come believing that he is standing right before you in all his glory waiting to listen, waiting to hear and answer your prayers. Come in faith, come expecting, come with the right attitude and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed because HE WILL BE THERE.
1 John 5:14, 15 This is the assurance we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.
