A Thought About My Doll Fetish

Call me girly, I don't care, but I've always loved dolls.  From the time I was little right on up to this very day;  I've always had a thing for them. I own many of them and still try to visit the toy department every time I'm at the mall just to see what's out there. I remember my gigantic Raggedy Ann doll, she was even bigger than I was. I also remember my "Mrs Beasley" doll.  She was my absolute favourite.  I can still remember what she said when you pulled her string, "Speak a little louder deary so Mrs Beasley can hear you!"
My kids get so mad at me.  They hate my dolls; apparently they are scary.  Some of them look very real, but even at that, how could a baby scare anyone! P l e a s e.
I tried to get my girls to like dolls when they were little but neither one of them could ever be bothered. I would buy them such pretty dolls too.... baby dolls, walking and talking dolls, Barbie and Ken dolls.....most of which ended up at the bottom of the toy box naked and decapitated or with limbs missing.   I don't get it. Of course my daughters tell me they aren't ever having any children either so that might explain it.  I couldn't wait to be a mother. When Michelle was born she would just lay there while I would try one outfit on her after another.
She would eventually fall asleep while I played for hours and hours. I have a whole collection of Cabbage Patch babies, and several porcelain dolls.  I have one that looks just like my cousin Kim, another that looks like my great nephew and even a doll that looks like my neighbour's daughter Tamara. I also own dolls from several popular TV shows like Caillou, Big Comfy Couch and Rug Rats.  I have some anatomically correct dolls, some native Indian dolls, African dolls and others from all over the world.  I even have a "Huggy Jesus" doll.
Who says I have to grow up.  Ain't happenig, ever!
